Gesundheit von Jungen Menschen und Herausforderungen an Public Health

Das Thema der Konferenz, die Gesundheit von Kindern und Jugendlichen, hat in beiden Ländern eine große Bedeutung. Es wird ein Austausch zu den aktuellen nationalen Präventionsstrategien in den Bereichen „Gesunde Ernährung“ und „Abhängigkeit und Substanzmittelkonsum“ und die damit verbundenen Anforderungen an Public Health-Wissenschaft stattfinden.

Die Konferenz wird in englischer Sprache durchgeführt. Sie ist kostenfrei.

Scientific Program
The young generation in the industrialized countries is confronted with major social changes.Good schooling and professional education is a prerequisite for integration into the labour market and the assurance of material life conditions. Studies in social-epidemiology showed that a good social status, measured by education, income and occupation, correlates with good health. Persons with a low socioeconomic status, unemployed, poor people, and socially disadvantaged migrants have a poor health. Social and cultural integration are an important determinant for the health of the young population. With respect to the demographic change, the society depends on a healthy, socially integrated and good qualified young generation. Epidemiologic data indicate, that the healt and health behaviour of young people in our society is not at its best. Obesity, and unhealthy nutrition behaviour, lack of physical activity, and addiction to legal and illegal drugs are large challenges for public health interventions. Focus of the conference is the question, in which way social change in the society influences the psychosocial demands and burdens of the young generation.
• Is the young generation prepared for the demands in our society? What is the impact on the health of the young generation?
• Which social determinants play an important role for the health and health behaviour of children and adolescents?
• Which health promotion and prevention strategies do we need?
• Do we have evidence for effectiveness of prevention measures and models of good practice in health promotion and prevention?
• Which health policies do we have in Germany and France?
